Putting faith on the Word will save us
10
1 My brothers and sisters!
I am praying with all my heart that God will save my fellow Israelites.*
2 I can testify that they very much desire to be serving God.
But they do not know in what way to do his service.
3 Because they don't know the way in which God makes people holy and righteous.
Therefore, because of them trying to become righteous ones by living according to their religious rules, they rejected God's way.
4 But, having made all those who put their faith in him as righteous ones, Christ fulfilled the purpose of the religious law.
Like that, he cancelled the matter that to become righteous it is necessary to follow according to that law.
Everyone can be saved from the punishment of sin
5 Therefore, anyone who wants to be righteous, according to Moses' law, must follow the whole law.
Then his living+ will be like what that prophet wrote.
6-7 But about the righteousness that is got through faith, don't ask, “In order to bring the Saviour Christ, who will go up to heaven?
Or in order to bring Christ back from the dead who will descend into that immeasurably deep pit?”
+ Because the saving Christ has already come to us.
And God has already raised Christ from the dead.
8 About this salvation, it is written in Scripture, “That word is with you.
It is in your mouth and in your heart.”
+ We are also telling about that word of faith.
9 That is, having accepted with our mouth that Jesus is Lord,* believing with our heart that God raised him from among the dead, we will be saved.
10 Because, through us putting faith from our heart, God counts us as righteous ones.
And, because of us accepting with our mouth, we will be saved.
11 About this, it is written in the Scripture, “But whoever puts faith in him, their faith will not break and they will not be shamed.”+
12 In putting faith, there is no difference between the Jewish people and the non-Jews.
* There is one Lord who is God for all the people of the world.
He is the one who gives full blessing to all those who pray to him.
13 For it is written in Scripture, “He will save each one who prays taking God's name.”+
14 But, without putting faith in him, how will they pray to him to be saved?
Truly they cannot pray!
So without hearing about him, how will they put their faith in him?
Truly they cannot!
So, if no one tells about him, how will they hear about him?
Truly they cannot hear!
15 So, without God sending people, how are they able to go and tell?
Truly they cannot tell!
About this, it is written in Scripture, “We take much joy when we see someone bringing good news.”+
16 But not everyone who heard accepted that news.
About this, in the Scripture, the prophet Isaiah said to God, “God!
No one has put faith in the news we told them.”+
17 Through them preaching the good news about Christ, they hear.
And, through hearing, people put faith in him.
18 So do you think that the Jewish people did not hear the good news?
I am saying that they definitely heard.
About this, it is written in the Scripture,
“The news they told was heard all over the world.
Their words spread to the world's four corners.”
+
19 Do you say that the Jewish people did not understand these words?
I am telling you that they definitely understood.
Long ago, in the religious law, Moses wrote about the non-Jews,
“You Jews!
Having seen me loving the non-Jews,
you will be jealous.
Having seen me caring for those non-Jews
who didn't know me,
you will be angry.”
+
20 And, about the non-Jews, the prophet Isaiah boldly shared in Scripture that God said,
“I was found by those who did not search for me.
I appeared to those who did not ask for me.”
+
21 But, about the Jews, God said,
“Those who are disobedient and those who are rebellious,
every day I was looking for them to come near to me.”
