📚Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ✭ is born of God✭, and everyone who loves him who did the begetting loves him also who✭ is begotten by him.Love obeys God’s commands
2 📚By this we know✭ that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commands. 3 📚For this is love for God, that we keep his commands. And his commands are not grievous✭.
Faith is the victory
4 📚✭For whoever✭ is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world✭: our faith. 5 📚Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes✭ that Jesus is the Son of God?
How to know we have eternal life
6 📚✭This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies✭, because the Spirit is truth✭.
7 📚✭For there are three who testify in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.
8 📚✭And there are three that testify on earth: The Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and these three agree as one.
9 📚If we receive the testimony of men✭, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God✭ which he has given concerning his Son. 10 📚✭He who believes on the Son of God has this testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar✭, because he does not believe the record that God gave about his Son. 11 📚And this is the record: God has given to us eternal life✭, and this life is in his Son✭. 12 📚✭He who has✭ the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 📚✭I have written these things to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.
A great promise concerning prayer
14 📚✭And this is the confidence that we have in him: If we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us. 15 📚And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have made to him.
The sin that leads to death
16 📚✭If any man sees his brother commit a sin which is not to death✭, he should pray, and he will give him life for those whose sin is not to death. There is a sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray concerning it. 17 📚✭All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin that is not to death.
Things believers can know
18 📚We know that whoever is born of God does not go on sinning✭, but he who was born of God keeps him✭, and that wicked one✭ does not hold him✭.
19 📚And we know✭ that we are of God, and that the whole world lies prostrate in wickedness✭.
20 📚And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding✭, so that we may know him✭ who is true. And we are in him✭ who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
The true knowledge of God rejects all idolatry
21 📚Little children, keep yourselves from idols✭. Amen.
