Malachi 4

The Day of the LORD

“For, see, the day is coming that will burn like a furnace; and all the arrogant, yes, and all evildoers, will be like stubble, and the day that is coming will burn them up, says the Lord of hosts. It will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But for you who fear my name the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in his wings. And you will go out, and grow up like calves in the stall. 3 And you will trample down the wicked. For they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this, says the LORD of hosts.

The coming of Elijah before the Day of the LORD

4 “Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, along with its statutes and judgments.

5 “See, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 6 And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse”.
